Butterflies have emerged!
Painted lady butterflies
Exciting news in Year 1 classroom, we had three butterflies emerge out of their chrysalis's today! We even managed to all watch the third butterfly wriggling out - super to watch!
Please come in and see what tomorrow brings! When they are all hatched we will be releasing them into our gardens and filming the event as it unfolds.

Lorton Meadows
The children had an exciting and interesting day at Lorton Meadows, we certainly had excellent weather for the trip! The children carried out pond dipping, some work looking at nature and creating a palette on their caterpillar as well as finding 'woolly' caterpillars in a hedgerow and discussing why the green and brown ones were tricky to find. After lunch we then went on a mini beast hunt overturning logs to see what we could discover! The children have brought home their pond dipping findings sheet and their caterpillar palette, please ask them about what they found. Many thanks to Mrs Barnes for coming along and helping on this trip.

This week's learning - Week Beginning 2nd June
The children have returned to school with a great attitude to their learning and with lots of interesting stories of what they have been up to during the half term break.
We have been flying off on our Magic Beds in Literacy using powerful adjectives to describe where we would fly to. This work is in response to a John Birningham book called the Magic Bed, we have also been looking at his other books: Aldo, The Shopping Basket, Mr Gumpy's Outing and Would You Rather.
In Maths the children have been showing us the skills they have learned over the past few weeks in addition and subtraction by using various pieces of equipment to help them to calculate.
Continuing our healthy eating project the children have been designing their own fruit smoothies which we will be making and tasting in the next few weeks.
Minibeast mayhem also continues as the children explore the school grounds for a colour palette of plants and petals. The children have also been making bug houses at playtime, it is lovely to see the children taking their learning out of the classroom! We have also been reading another story called "The Crunching Munching Caterpillar", but you'll have to wait for our assembly to find out more about that one!
A great big thank you to Mrs Coombes who has kindly donated and helped us plant some beans and tomato plants outside our classroom.
Class Assembly: Friday 13th June at 9:20am in the school hall.
