Christmas jumpers on last day

Christmas jumpers on last day

It has come to our attention that tomorrow is causing some confusion as to whether children can wear jumpers or not. We are aware that tomorrow is a National charity day which highlights the wear of jumpers in support. We have chosen due to our three big fund raisers this term not to ask you to support this charity. We are also aware of many parents and children who wish to wear a jumper tomorrow and have been asking the class teams.

So, the simple is yes, jumpers can be worn, but we will not be collecting for charity. If you do wish to donate, then please use the website link highlighted in the press.

We apologise for the lateness and confusion, this event seems to have grown since last year, we will therefore be clearer next year with plenty of time to plan accordingly.

Also -Games are also allowed on the last day of term, named please and nothing expensive in case bits are lost!

Merry Christmas!

Last few things before Christmas!

So Shine Star Shine 2015 is over! All of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 did a fantastic job and really showed their talents. Well done!!

This afternoon we had our Christmas party. Thank you all for the delicious food donations. We enjoyed lots of party games and some dancing this afternoon.

Tomorrow is our last day before the holidays. The children can wear their Christmas jumpers/ Tshirts with their uniform. We will be having carols in the afternoon.

History in the making....

Year 1 witnessed a piece of history in the making. We watched the first ever British astronaut blast off in to space to board the International Space Station. Tim Peake took off at 11.03am this morning and the children watched it all! We will be keeping track of Tim as he spends 6 months in space.

Lots of festive fun!

Wow what a fantastic first performance! All of the Year 1 team are extremely proud of all of the children.

School is very festive and busy at the moment. Well done to everyone who entered the Christmas DT competition. Congratulations to Thomas who won the prize for Year 1.

Tomorrow is our Christmas dinner where we will be all pulling crackers and eating delicious food. On Thursday we will have our class Christmas party. Your child will not need to bring lunch, instead we will be sharing the food that everyone brings in (the list is up in the classroom). On Friday afternoon we will be having carols in the hall.

Friday 18th December

POW Carols – everyone welcome, come in and join in with singing carols, to begin in hall from 2.45pm.

Musicians – please dust off those old instruments you may have once played (like myself) and come on in and join the parents/ community group, we gather around the piano and offer our sounds to compliment (?!) the pianist and the school singing. We have simple music to follow; sight reading is an easy level. The children love seeing the adults who turn up and show off an instrument! Any qus, please pop by the office and come and see me.

This week in Year 1

This week in Year 1 we will be doing all things Christmas! The children have been practising on stage with the Year 2s and doing this brilliantly. If you haven't got your tickets already please see the office. The first performance is Tuesday the 15th.

On Friday we have Christmas Technology day. The children have chosen 3 different activities to do and will go to different classrooms throughout the day. This day is fantastically festive and everyone will have things to bring home. It is a school uniform but the children can wear their Christmas jumpers or Christmas hats!

I have had a few parents ask me about a food list for our Christmas party. Our party is on Thursday the 17th December. Your child will not need a packed lunch, instead please put your name down for a food item. This will be up in class tomorrow morning.

Many thanks

Mrs Thorpe and the Year 1 team.
