Year 1 - Last Day of Term...

Hello everyone,

Firstly, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone that made it to our beach party on Friday! The weather didn't seem to stop us! Mrs Webb and I would also both like to say thank you for the thoughtful gifts as well. They were very kind. 

As you all know tomorrow is the last day of the school year... the children will be bringing home anything that is left in school that may belong to them for the summer holidays. We have a few wellies and pieces of outdoor clothing left outside so please be sure to check if any of this is yours. Also coming home today will be a transition pack for year 1 to year 2 for you to have a look at. 

All that remains to be said is a massive heartfelt thank you for working alongside us and trusting us with your children's education and well-being this year. As I said on Friday, it really does make such a massive difference when home and school work in partnership.

Year 1 - Friday's Beach Party... Changes!

Hello everyone,

As lots of you already know, we had planned to have a celebration for the year 1 class with a beach party this Friday. However, with the weather forecast looking decidedly rough for the day we are going to make some changes to the original plan... 

• Children will no longer need to wear play/wet clothes into school on the day - normal school uniform will be expected. 
• You will no longer need to bring in inflatables/water pistols etc.
• Parents/carers/families are still welcome in to school from 2.30pm on the day. 
• Activities will take place in the classroom area instead (mostly!!) 

We apologise for the change of plans late on but hope that we can still have some good fun on the day! And who knows, there may be some water involved somewhere along the line anyway!?

Year 1 - This Week...

Hello everyone,

We have another busy busy week in year 1 this week! 

Today we have been making the final few preparations for Sports Afternoon on Wednesday, as the picture below hopefully illustrates... 

This afternoon we were joined by the Reception Class and had the privilege of reading a story in pairs. This was a fantastic activity and allowed the year 1 children to see first hand how far they have come with their learning journey this year as well as support the children in their transition to year 1 next September. 

Tomorrow we have our Tae-Kwando session in school... look out for some info about this coming home if you would like to pursue this further. 

Then, on Wednesday afternoon year 1 have their sports afternoon from 1.30pm which you are all invited to! 

Finally, thank you to everyone who has bought back their Fleet Trip letters so far!

Year 1 - Dates For The Final Few Weeks...

Hello everyone,

We have SO MANY things coming up in the final few weeks of term and with so many dates, I thought it would be useful to list them all for year 1. 

Friday 5th July - Dance Day 2019 - You are all welcome to come into school from 14.30pm and come and observe the year 1 class dance as well as all the other class dances... I'm sure there will be a few surprises there too!

Wednesday 10th July - Sports Day - From 13.30 onwards on this date we will all be heading out on to the playground for our annual feast of sports! There will be a selection of Inclusive Sports, Playground Skills and of course, Races. Bring your running shoes. Just saying. 

Friday 12th July - Football Golf - Our first ever Football Golf course will take in the entire school grounds and you are welcome to come along and play a round with your child. Year 1 will be teeing off from 14.30pm for this event. A separate letter will be coming home about this very soon. 

Tuesday 16th July - Fleet Trip - Year 1 will be embarking on a trip to the Fleet in Weymouth for a day of activities and fun. If you are available on the day and would like to help please let us know. Fingers crossed for some good weather. 

Friday 19th July - BEACH PARTY! - As a final celebration for the year and for all the amazing and fantastic effort, determination and perseverance Year 1 will be having a beach party. A separate letter for this has already come home but if you have any further questions, please come and ask. The biggest thing for this is ensuring children wear something to school you will not mind getting wet in! 

Tuesday 23rd July - Final Day of Term - We will enjoying the final day of school for this year in style... did someone say ice cream?? 

We are all very much looking forward to these last few weeks and events! Please come and find us if there is anything you are unsure of, or would like to discuss.

Year 1 - Caps and Sunglasses For Friday!

Hello everyone,

Yesterday we began learning our dance for Dance Day this Friday! To help us with showing this dance we thought as a class that it would look MUCH cooler if the children were to wear caps and sunglasses. 

So, if you have these things available to bring in to school on Friday please do! 

Oh and.... Bring your dancing shoes on Friday!!?
