WOW, THANK YOU!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR OUR INCREDIBLE CHRISTMAS GIFTS. I speak for all of us when I say that we were completely blown away with your generosity and how personal they were to each of us. Thank you once again, you are an AMAZING group of parents to us and we feel very spoilt.

What a super term we have had, even if things had to be a bit different to normal. Each and every child has made me so incredibly proud this term and I feel like the luckiest teacher in the world.

You may have noticed that home learning books did not come home.....however, here is the home learning for the Christmas Holidays;

HAVE FUN AND MAKE MEMORIES!

This year has been full of ups and downs and we want this christmas to be as special as we can. In light of this we didn't send home learning back today as we want children to focus on having fun!

Reading books also didn't come home as we are in the middle of sorting through all the book bag books as children will be changing groups in the Spring Term.

Have the most amazing Christmas and enjoy every moment. Thank you once again for everything you have done this term, you are all amazing!

IT'S CHRISTMASSSSSSSSSSS!

Hello everyone! Wow, what a busy week we have had so far in Year One! This truly is the best time of year and we are very quickly approaching Christmas/End of term.

Just a few things before we break up;

1. Friday is non-school uniform day and we ask for children to come in PARTY CLOTHES! Also for lunch we ask for you to please send in a packed lunch that is wrapped up in christmas paper for the children to unwrap.

2. Tonight knowledge organisers, a card and a reading eggs login came home. Reading eggs is a great online platform that can aid/support children's reading.  If you have any questions about this please let me know.

3. Please can you send in a named carrier bag with your child tomorrow/friday. This will be used to send home some christmas goodies!!

Thank you all for your continued support,

Miss White and the Year One Team

THANK YOU!

I just want to say a HUGE thank you to all the relatives that joined our zoom call yesterday. It was so incredible to be a part of such a special moment. I hope each and every one of you who joined enjoyed it as much as we did. So once again, thank you so much for being apart of our secret mission.

I also want to say a HUGE well done to the children this week. We have been taking part in a few secret missions and they have showed me such maturity. So WELL DONE!

I can't believe that is it already coming up to the last week of term and christmas is really quickly approaching. Next week we have lots going on and this promises to be a SUPER last week for our children!!

This week we have taken part in some amazing activities. On Monday we had the elves and the shoemakers in who performed an incredibly enjoyable performance for us. This was enjoyed by all. On Tuesday we had our beds at booktime which proved to be a very popular evening! Christmas Jumper day was also a huge success so thank you to you all.

Have a super weekend and we will see you on Monday!

Coming up this week in #TheGreatestSchoolOnEarth

Hello all, I hope you've had a super weekend and are ready for yet another quiet week at #TheGreatestSchoolOnEarth. We have lots of very exciting things happening this week and I wanted to clarify what is needed for each.

Tomorrow we have the amazing Treehouse theatre visiting us to perform 'The Elves and the Shoemaker'. We are encouraging children to dress as elves. This does not mean you have to go out and buy an outfit. A christmas hat, green or red clothes and stripy socks would be perfect. You do not have to send your child in dressed up if you do not want to. I also want to let you know that this performance will be completely covid-secure and we are following all the necessary restrictions. This promises to be an enjoyable performance for all.

On Tuesday we have 'Books at Bedtime' this will be 5pm-6pm. We encourage children to come in their pjs with a teddy if they want to. There will also be hot chocolate on offer and maybe a treat or two. If your child attends after school club we are more than happy to keep the children at school. All I would ask is that you maybe send in some extra food for them to have in this time before going into the hall at 5pm.

On Wednesday we are off to the local care home Cheriton - which is our first secret mission. As stated in the letter this is also covid-secure and there will be no contact between us and them. We will be walking from school at 1:45pm and we will be back in time for pick up at 3:15pm. Children are asked to wear their usual school uniform and are also welcome to bring a festive accessory such as festive headgear (reindeer antlers, christmas hats or tinsel).

On Thursday we have our second secret mission which includes a zoom call with the childrens relatives. The filming will involve listening to the children sing live and responding with their thoughts. We plan to do this zoom call at 11:00am sharp. The details of the zoom have already been shared with you. All we ask from the relatives is to listen to the children singing and add some comments if they wish to. No questions will be asked to the relatives, however, it would be lovely if they could add some comments about the singing - such as 'wow what beautiful singing'.

These secret missions will be broadcasted on the schools social media streams.

On Friday we have christmas jumper day!! Children will be encouraged to wear a christmas jumper into school.

If you do not want the children to take part in these activities please let a member of the Year One team know ASAP.

Also, if you could practice these two songs at home, this would be AMAZING!

Year One - SECRET MISSIONS

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we are swiftly approaching Christmas, in Year One we have some SECRET MISSIONS that we need your help with.

SECRET MISSION ONE - We are inviting relatives (we were thinking Grandparents in particular but not exclusively) to help us take part in some secret filming via Zoom. The filming will involve listening to the children sing live and responding with their thoughts.

We plan to do this zoom call on Thursday 10th December 2020 at 11:00am sharp, please see below for the joining instructions -

(these are on the original letter)

Please feel free to share these details with trusted relatives, please make it clear to them that we will be recording the whole broadcast and will be making the content available via our usual social media channels.

SECRET MISSION TWO - Alongside the Zoom call, on Wednesday 9th December 2020, we will be visiting the local care home ‘Cheriton’ to sing the resident some Christmas Carols.

The visit has been carefully arranged alongside Cheriton to ensure that we are following the current COVID-19 restrictions. We will be singing from outside and the residents/staff from the care home will be in the doorway or watching from windows. There will be no contact between the two.

We will be walking from school at 1:45pm on the day and we will be back in time for pick up at 3:15pm. Children are asked to wear their usual school uniform and are also welcome to bring a festive accessory such as festive headgear (reindeer antlers, christmas hats or tinsel).

If you do not want your child to take part in one or either of our secret mission activities please make this known to the Year One Team ASAP.

Content recorded in both secret missions will be shared via our usual social media streams.

This Christmas is promising to be the best we’ve had at #TheGreatestSchoolOnEarth!

Thank you in advance for your support.

Warm regards,

Miss White
