This week in the Year One classroom..

Hi everyone,

Your children have been absolute SUPERSTARS this week. We have been so impressed with their attitude to learning and their curiosity towards our space topic. We are all very proud!

This week we have been learning all about the International Space Station and focused on the amazing Tim Peake. The children wrote a letter from the Space Station and put themselves in Tim Peake's shoes. In Power Maths we have been looking at subtraction within 20 and exploring different ways to work problems out. In Science we planted our own beans and we can't wait to see how they grow! Art was such a fun lesson this week. We made our own SPACESHIPS out of junk modelling objects!!

Just a reminder it is Red Nose Day tomorrow which means it is a non-school uniform day. We do ask for a donation of £1 if children come in their own clothes. Thank you to those who have sent me pictures of cakes, these have really made me smile!

Thank you for your continued support and as always if you have any questions please email me.

RED NOSE DAY - 19TH MARCH 2021!

As I'm sure many of you know Red Nose Day is fast approaching! We are very excited for this!! Lots of different activities will be happening to raise money for this amazing charity. Red noses will be on sale at a cost of £1.50 - however, when they are gone they are gone so you will need to get these quickly!

Red Nose Day this year has a few different themes but our main focus is 'Share a smile'. As we are still in our bubbles we will not be able to do the usual activities...however, we have planned to do lots of activities in our bubbles!

The activities that need your help are;

- Cake making competition and the theme is funny! If you want to join in with this competition then you need to make a cake at home and send a picture to me! We will be judging the funniest cake in Year One and the winner will get a prize.

- Joke competition - which will include children writing down a joke on Red Nose Day themed paper and shared with the class. We will then judge which joke we think is the funniest!

- We will also be having a non-school uniform day. We haven't chosen a theme as there are lots of different themes for this Red Nose Day, so anything will be fine! We think we are going to wear red to go with our Red Nose! We do ask for a donation of £1 if your child does come in non-school uniform.

We know that this year's Red Nose Day will be a success and we can raise money for such an amazing charity!

If you have any questions about any of this please email me.

Take care,

Miss White and the Year One Team x

Proud teacher moment!

 Evening all,

I wanted to send out a blog to say how incredibly proud I am of each and every child today. They all came into the classroom with such positive attitudes and a great outlook on being back to school! Each child took this in their stride and by the time break time came around it was like they had never been away. Thank you so much to you all also for your amazing home learning skills! You should feel very proud of yourselves.

I am bursting with pride!
