Young Artists Royal Academy Summer Exhibition - Last Call for Submissions

You may remember back in March, our last Lockdown #InspiredToLearn Challenge was all about Art!  If you did want to get involved I will need to submit your work before Monday 26th April.  Please email a jpeg of your artwork with a description by Friday 23rd April to be included.

Here is the information just in case you missed it!

 A #InspiredToLearn Artistic Opportunity

Now in its third year, the Young Artists’ Summer Show is a free, open submission exhibition for students aged 5 - 19 studying in the UK and British schools overseas. Artworks are judged by artists and arts professionals with selected artworks displayed online and on-site at the Royal Academy of Arts.

We just had to get involved!

What is The Royal Academy Young Artists Summer Show?

Artists are at the heart of everything at the Royal Academy of Arts – they’ve been championing them since 1768 and firmly believe in nurturing young talent and celebrating the next generation of artists.

Taking inspiration from the annual Summer Exhibition, the Young Artists’ Summer Show is an opportunity for young artists aged 5 - 19 years to exhibit their work online and on-site at the Royal Academy.

The project is generously supported by Robin Hambro, a passionate advocate for the importance of access to art, and the benefits of encouraging the arts, for children and young people.

A panel of passionate and award-winning artists and arts professionals work together each year to select artworks to exhibit online and on-site at the Royal Academy.

Your artwork could be among those the judges select this year!

How do I enter?

We are registered as a school and you can submit up to 3 pieces of artwork, these can be works of art created at home or in school, in the past or something you are working on currently.  They can also be collaborative pieces that have been created by you with support of a group of other children.  There is no set theme or media for your artwork - It can be a painting, sculpture, photograph, installation, video, drawing, or a combination.

For each artwork submission you will need a jpeg image/s of the artwork along with details including a title, medium and a short description, child’s name and age.  Please see the attached guide for taking your photos.

Send your photos to a.johnson@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk

Please also complete the attached permission form and hand in to the school office.  Your picture will then be submitted by us and you will receive confirmation via a return email from us and everyone who submits work will hear from the Royal Academy by the end of May.

The closing date for submissions is 26th April 2021

The full terms and conditions are available on the Royal Academy Website.

What happens next?

Your artwork will be seen by a panel of judges and the selected pieces will be shown in our online exhibition. Some of the artworks will also be selected to be shown at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

Prizes

Prizes are awarded each year for two inspiring artworks from each key stage, as chosen by the President of the Royal Academy, and you can also vote for your favourite artwork in The Royal Academy’s annual People’s Choice Award.

BRING ON THE SUMMER!

Good evening, we hope you are all well and the children are ready and excited to come back to school. The adults in Year 1 definitely are excited. Just a few housekeeping things we wanted to communicate with you.

As you all know our bubble is changing as of tomorrow. We will now be in a bubble with Reception and Year 2. Breakfast club and afterschool provision will now be held in the staff room within our new bubble. If you want to use this provision please see Mr Edmonds if you have not already done so. The classroom doors will be open at 8:45, if these doors are not open please wait for an adult from Year 1 to open them. We also wanted to let you know about the after school clubs that are available to us: Monday - Dance fitness, Wednesday - Football and Thursday - Multisports.

Tomorrow marks the start of 'The Big Pedal' and we are asking as many children and adults to cycle or scoot to school and this data will be recorded. In past years we have done really well and we want to do just as well or better this year!

As it is starting to get hotter we do ask that your child brings in a named sunhat to wear when outside. Also, we advise that children wear a long lasting sun cream, however if you want us to reapply sun cream please bring in a named bottle and we will keep this in school.

One final thing.....THE BIG BANG! This is a very special and exciting treat that has been organised for us. Lots of pictures and videos will be taken.

We look forward to seeing you in the morning!

Nearly time to come back to school and walk the plank!!

Hi everyone, I hope you’ve all had a super Easter and spent time relaxing and having fun.

Lots of very exciting things coming up this term and I cannot wait for the children to dive straight in. We are starting my favourite ever topic.....PIRATES arrrrrrrgh. I cannot wait to see some of the pirate projects the children have been working on over the holidays. Some of you have been asking me about spellings..I did not send these home as I wanted the children to relax and recuperate. We have had a really busy time since they have been back to school and I thought they deserved to have some time to play, spend time with family and have fun. Spellings will restart when we are back.

We did say a sad goodbye to Ms Evans - she is moving into Year 2 so we will still be seeing her. However, we are welcoming back Miss Ruken who we have really missed. We are also welcoming Mrs Scott into our Year 1 family.

Just a few reminders;

- Please can all children come in with a healthy snack and water bottle daily.

- PE kits need to come back in by Wednesday.

- Please can you check uniform and make sure all of it is labelled as we have had a few missing cardigans and jumpers due to them not being labelled.

- Home learning - these books need to be back in on a Thursday for a quick turnaround to send them back Friday. Also, we are missing a lot of the RWI book bag books that we send home. Please can you have a look and send these back in, we will not judge if you have lots at home! If children do not bring them back in weekly we will not be sending any more home.

I hope all this makes sense and I can’t wait to see you all on Monday!
