WHAT A HALF TERM WE HAVE HAD!

I just want to start this blog by saying WOW!!!! I could not be anymore proud of the Year 1 children and how incredible they have been this half term. We have been so busy and it has flown by! The work produced has blown me away and I can't wait for the last half with your children...the eyes are starting to well up just thinking about them leaving me....

We had the most amazing trip to Weymouth Beach and I was so proud of the children. They really represented Prince of Wales excellently. I'm sure most of them told you about the surprise of ICE CREAM at the end.

Next half term we will be focusing on The Great Fire of London! The home learning will be surrounding this new topic. Spellings and RWI books will not be coming home as children may be changing RWI groups as they have been assessed this week.

Our class assembly will be on the 18th June and you are all welcome to come and watch (socially distanced of course!).

I hope you all have a super half term!

This week in the Year 1 classroom!

WOW! What a full on week we have had in the Year 1 classroom. Your children never fail to make us proud and amaze us.

Their writing this week has been so INCREDIBLE we have been blown away. The types of words they are using in their writing is so exciting and makes us all want to continue reading! A really big well done from all the adults in Year 1!!

In Maths we have completed Unit 10 which focussed on length and height. There was lots of exploring involved in this unit and measuring different objects in the classroom.

Art was so fun this week! We made Andy Warhol style art using leaves and wax crayons. These turned out so great.

In Jigsaw and RE we have been focusing on relationships and what makes a good friend. In RE we have looked at Jesus and his disciples and how they are seen as good friends to Jesus. In Jigsaw we are looking at what it means to be a good friend.

In PE we are focusing on ball and racket skills and this week the children had a super fun lesson with Mr Treble that involved using balloons!

We can't believe that it is almost half term which means the children only have half a term left which makes us all feel so sad as we don't want them to leave us!!

Thank you as always for your continued support.

World Maths Day and the goings on in the Year One classroom!

Afternoon everyone, we hope you have all had a lovely relaxing LONG weekend, we definitely have.

Just a reminder about World Maths Day on Wednesday. To celebrate this we are having a non-school uniform day which does have a theme of MATHS or dressing up as someone who works with Maths. We cannot wait to see what everyone dresses up as. Please can you also encourage children to join in with the warm up on Mathletics!

We have been very busy in the Year One classroom and we have been BLOWN AWAY with the AMAZING writing that the children have been producing. We have been doing adventure story writing and descriptive writing. Some children also included similes in their writing! In Maths we have been carrying on with our numbers to 50 and started to count in 2's! In Science we have been learning about carnivores, omnivores and herbivores which will continue this week. In Art we have been starting to explore Pop Art and had a really fun art lesson which involved brightly coloured print making with vegetables.

Thank you as always for your continued support,
