Last week in Y1

 Hello Year One families

Our first week back at school was a busy one!

We have started our art, where we are focusing on collage. This week we experimented with layering, cutting and ripping to create different shapes in the paper.

We also had a fantastic trip to the farm. As always Hazel looked after us really well and we got to experience many parts of the farm. We visited new lambs, we fed the pigs and collected the eggs from the hens. Hazel was hugely impressed with ow well behaved the children were. Well done Year One.

We are also starting Forest School this term. This week we learnt about evergreen and deciduous trees. W looked and labelled them!

In maths we have begun to learn about multiplication and division and have started this by learning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s.

In English, we enjoying our new story 'Dolphin Boy' and have been writing our own ending to the story.

Farm Visit

Hello Year One families

We hope you have had a lovely Easter break together and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 17th April.

Thursday 20th April

We will be off to Maiden Castle Farm on the morning of Thursday 20th April to see and feed the lambs that have been born recently. Please make sure your child is wearing suitable footwear for the farm visit - it may be muddy! Children will also need a coat as we will be going whatever the weather (unless it is torrential rain). We will have to keep our fingers crossed for the weather, as you never can tell at the moment!
