In science we have been doing an experiment with jelly. We have been looking at turning a solid jelly into a liquid and then back to a solid. Below are some pictures and describing words.
First of all we had a feel and a smell of the solid jelly.
|
"squishy" "sticky" "red" "stretchy" "smells like strawberries" |
Then we had to add boiling water
|
"The kettle water is hot/boiling then it melts the jelly"
"When the water is boiling there are bubbles"
Then we had to stir the jelly. "the jelly disappears"
"steam is coming off" "the water has turned red"
"the jelly is getting smaller"
The jelly has now turned into a liquid.
Next we have to put the jelly into the fridge where it turns into a solid.
QUESTION: What would happen if you put boiling water onto the set jelly.
Would it turn into a liquid again? How many times could you change it back?

Fantastic science from the Year 1 class and such brilliant observations!
ReplyDeleteWhat would happen if you tried to pick up the jelly cubes with chopsticks? What would happen if you put oil on the plate and then tried to pick them up with chopsticks again?
