This week in Year 1 we have been thinking about Bonfire Night. The children wrote a set of safety rules that everyone needs to be aware of if they are watching a fireworks display. Then we watched a number of videos and looked at pictures of fireworks. Using their senses the children wrote adjectives in their pairs about what they may see, hear, smell and feel on Bonfire Night. The following day they used these adjectives to write a firework senses poem. The poems were fantastic!
In Maths this week we have been looking at 2D and 3D shapes and their properites. The children have been counting the faces, edges and corners of the shapes. We also have a couple of very catchy songs that we listen to!
Apologies for not putting out a board on Friday afternoon about Forest Schools. Forest School will start on Monday for Spring and Summer group. Please can we have long sleeve tops, fleeces, trousers, water proof coats (trousers if you have them) and wellingtons in school. These ideally will be kept in school for the 5/6 weeks but if you can't spare the clothes then please do take them every week. It is very cold at the moment so hats would also be beneficial.
We hope you have a great weekend and enjoy any fireworks you go to see.
