Welcome back to the Spring term! We hope that you all had a
fun filled festive break.
Today we have introduced the children to our next R for our
Building Learning Powers which is Reflectiveness.
The children have learnt about what it is to be a ‘Reflective Monkey’. A
reflective monkey does the four following things;
1.
Plans-
they plan what it is they need to do and the resources they will need to help
them.
2.
Revises-
looks over their work, reading the tickled pink and green for growth and then
makes any adjustments using a purple progress pen.
3.
Distils-
uses the skills they already know to help them solve a challenge.
4.
They are a
Meta- learner- they know what they are good at and what they need to get
better at (targets).
The children really took this on board today and were able
to correct sentences that were missing key features. They will be looking at
their targets and will be receiving knew reading targets this week.
This week in Literacy we are reviewing our key skills and
what makes sentences super. The children were able to say what was needed in a
sentence and used this in their work.
In Maths this week we will be starting to look at time. In
Year 1 we learn how to read o’clock times and half past and will also start to
record in time.
On Tuesday I will be having my parent information session. This
will be in the classroom from 9am. Newsletters will be going out also next
week.
Forest School will not be happening for the Spring term but
will commence again in the Summer term. Instead, half of the class will be with
Mrs Hall as usual for PE whilst the other half will be with me (Mrs Thorpe) for
Jigsaw.
