Hello Year One families
Once again it has been a busy week in Year One. Not only have we squeezed in a visit to the zoo and 'zoomed' with a sculptor we have also been busy claiming our counters for our play projects.
This week the focus has been on:
Animals and where they live and the seven continents
Making animal enclosures in construction
Developing fine motor skills by using toothbrushes to clean the animals
Splatting teen numbers with friends
Accurately counting shells into egg boxes.
Writing in a variety of ways by: leaving messages in chalk, completing a clipboard challenge linked to science, writing welcome notes to Mr Benn.
The staff in Year One work and play alongside the children whilst they are completing the play projects, teaching children subject specific knowledge, skills and language. The children are learning through play, just the way we like it!
Farm and Market visits:
We are visiting the farm on Tuesday 27th September from 10.10am until 12.30pm and Dorchester Market on Wednesday 5th October (in the morning). If you would like to come and help on either of these trips please do let me know.
Next week we start our faith, food and farming fortnight with lots of exciting learning happening.
