TeachRex and the experimenters!

 Hello Year One Families

Did you know a dinosaur came to visit this week?! We were a bit suspicious at the beginning of the week and not sure what to expect, especially when the egg cracked! We investigated the classroom for clues and made posters  . . . and then a dinosaur turned up!!

 

This week has also been all about experiments in science. We have been investigating which materials are absorbent and which are waterproof. We tested plastic, cotton wool, foil, paper and sponge. Following this we completed an investigation with Ms Browne to decide which material would be the best for a do'g basket. Children were encouraged to make predictions and think about what they had learnt previously to make their decisions. 

We are really enjoying gymnastics with Mr treble at the moment too:

Today we watched KS1 Mission: Space cadets where we learnt what it takes to become an astronaut from some special guests.

We really have had an #inspiredtolearn week.

Don't forget it is Astronaut Day on Monday. Please come dressed as an astronaut for some out of this world fun!
