Exploring Animated Story Books in Year One!
This week in Computing, Year One jumped into the world of digital storytelling as we explored Unit 1.6 – Animated Story Books on Purple Mash!
We started by thinking about the differences between traditional books (the ones we hold and turn the pages of) and e-books (the ones we read on a screen).
The children shared great ideas and quickly spotted that while both tell stories, e-books can sometimes move, make sounds, and even let us create our own!
Using 2Create a Story, we explored the My Simple Story level. Everyone had the chance to:
Use the drawing tools to create their own illustrations 🎨
Add text to tell part of a story 📝
And most excitingly… save their own page in a digital book! 💾
The children were brilliant at using the tools and showed fantastic creativity and confidence with their work. We’re really looking forward to seeing how their digital storytelling skills grow over the next few lessons.
Well done, Year One – you are becoming super e-authors! 🌟📖✨

Year 1 - Farm trip
Hello everyone! We hope you have had a super weekend.
Year 1 are off to the farm on Tuesday. We will be leaving about 9:15 and will be back for lunch time. Please can you send your child in with a snack and water bottle. Children will be carrying these, so please make sure their snacks are easy to carry. We will also be taking a few bags of fruit with us. Please send in children wearing trousers suitable for the farm and their school tops. We ask that children wear wellies (a lot of these are already in school) and a waterproof coat just in case we get caught in any rain!
Any questions, please email or catch a Year 1 member at the door.
See you in the morning!

Year 1 - Week 3
Hi everyone! We hope you have had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine!
We have had another super week in Year 1. In Maths we moved onto a new unit where we have been looking at length and height. This has included lots of measuring and hands on activities. In English we have continued with 'Stanley's Stick' and have been writing letters of advice for Stanley on what he can use his stick for. In Science this week we looked at evergreen and deciduous trees.
Forest school was another success this week with children so excited to go and taking part in a range of activities, including pond dipping!
Four of the Year 1 children took part in a table cricket tournament and we are so proud of their success and how hard they tried!
We have also had Mrs Bassett join us this week who is a trainee teacher completely her final placement with us. She will be with us up until nearly the end of the year.
See you all in the morning!
