welcome back to everyone and hope you all had a good holiday.

Here we are in the last 6 weeks of Year 1! It hardly seems any time since the children started last September.

Next week we will be having the Yr 1 Phonics Check. This week I have been working with the children 1 to 1 to do a small assessment of my own and have been pleased with the results so next week should not be any different for them. You will be informed of your own child's result during the annual report which is due out at the end of term.
We will not be making a fuss about the "check" and as the children are quite used to working in the quiet room I am sure they will not notice anything very different to normal.
Their usual work will be taking place in class and I will withdraw each child for just a few minutes each to read the words which we have been sent. The children won't miss much as it is anticipated that each will only spend a short time away from their activities.

Today Jonathan Langtree came into class to help. He did a child care work placement here last year and is coming back on Wednesdays until the end of term for more experience.
