Our fantastic trip to the Watercress beds.

Well yesterday we went to the Watercress beds. After a delayed start we got to the Watercress company got straight in to learning about how watercress is grown. The children enjoyed jumped around in the watercress beds and then looking at what Tom fished out of the river. We saw an abundance of creatures.

After a quick lunch break the children got to bunch the watercress.

Then we got to see what they use to keep the pigeons off the watercress... birds of prey! Tony showed us his barn owl, falcon and hawk. The children were amazed and curious about these beautiful creatures. Tony then flew his hawk for the children to see. Finally we got to go in to the factory to see where the watercress and salad is stored and even taste it in the fridge! A huge thank you to Tom and James from the Watercress company that arranged lots of activities for the children to do and made the day very fun.

Thank you to all of our parent helpers who came. I know the children really enjoyed the trip and I hope they have told you about it! If you want to see all of the photos from yesterday please go on to the school website, class photo gallery and year 1.
