Hi everyone, I hope you are all well and have had a great weekend!
We have had such a busy and exciting week, and are now on the countdown to the end of their time in Year 1.
We started the week with an EXTREME bike show that all children loved and were inspired by! This was also a sad day as we said goodbye to the amazing Miss Ruken, however, we wish her all the best in her new job!
On Tuesday we had our Bikeathon which all children took part in and were riding around the school on either bikes or scooters. They even got to go through the corridors!! I am so proud with the effort that each and every child showed!!
On Wednesday we took part in Mrs Long's Darts Day, and I really think we have some future dart players on our hands. All children had so much fun with this activity!
Thursday was transfer day and I am so incredibly proud of how each and every children approached this. They showed amazing behaviour and took part in all activities that were available in Year 2! We also has Sports Day in the afternoon and WOW, I was so impressed with how well they all did!!!!
Then we finished the week with some strange goings on around the school grounds.....THE SPOTTING OF A DRAGON!!!! The children have been looking for clues and updating me of what they have found. Beware though....there may be more to come!! We then had DANCE DAY! Which was great success and the children danced so well. What a week we have had in Year 1!!
Just a few things to finish this blog.....Please can you have a hunt around your homes and look for any RWI books or library books you may have. We have quite a few missing, and if we don't get these back we will not be able to send anymore home.
Just to clarify, each week we send home a RWI book which is for your children to read and build up fluency while reading. They then bring this book back at the end of the week. They should be reading these books confidently and with expression. There are also questions at the back for you to ask your child after they have read the book to ensure they are understanding what they reading. They will also come home with a library book which is what they have chosen to read for pleasure. These can come back when they have finished reading them and we will swap them. Home learning books also come home weekly with a different task in. This is not compulsory, it is there for you if you want to complete the task.
If you have any questions, as always please email or catch me at the classroom door!
See you all tomorrow!
