The week in Y1

 Hello Year One families

In English we are learning to write instructions. At the beginning of the week Mrs Stockman showed us what happens when you put some mentos into a bottle of coke. The results were explosive! From this the children used imperative verbs and adverbs to begin to plan a set of instructions.

In maths we are learning how to partition numbers up to 100 into tens and ones. We used some resources to help us do this. The children are getting really good at this today.

The children had another visit to the Year 2 classroom with Miss White and Mrs Stockman this week. They had a lovely time but assured me they didn't have TOO much fun!!

Today we visited the science lab at Thomas Hardye School where we went on a trip to the moon. We had a brilliant time firing rockets, making slime and investigating space rock. It was a great, interactive session and we really enjoyed it. Thank you to the science team at Thomas Hardye for letting us visit.

Trip to Kingston Lacey on Tuesday 20th June

We are off to Kingston Lacey on Tuesday. Please make sure your child has everything they need for this trip. If it is hot they will need sun hat and suncream (applied before they arrive at school) as well as lots of water. Please make sure that they wear comfortable clothes and footwear.

Have a lovely weekend.
The Year One Team
Mrs March, Ms Browne, Mrs Stockman, Mrs Rogers, Miss McCourt and Ms Dainton.
