Cave Baby, Antartica, Europe and Tens Frames

 Hi Year One Families,

What a busy week we have had!

This week in English, we continued our work around Cave Baby, developing our understanding of nouns and adjectives and using these to describe characters and pictures. In Maths, we continued exploring numbers within 10, developing our confidence with counting larger groups and counting on from different numbers. In Geography, we continued our journey around the world by exploring Europe and Antarctica, looking at where they are and some of their key features.

The children have also loved looking at the photographs of their peers baptism's so thank you for sharing those!

Home Learning will be sent home and collected weekly on a Friday- please do hear your child read daily- it really helps children to build their fluency.

Our learning next week:
Next week, we will continue our Cave Baby learning in English, using adjectives to create captions and sentences and practising ordering our ideas correctly using capital letters and full stops. In Maths, we will be developing our number sense by counting on within 10, finding one more and counting backwards from 10 to 0. In Geography, our journey around the continents will take us to North and South America, where we will explore their location, landmarks and features.

We have two two trips on the horizon Marwell Zoo on 1st October and a trip to Maiden Castle Farm on 22nd October in the morning. If you would like to accompany either trip please get in touch with Mrs Thorpe b.thorpe@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk

Please do get in touch if you have anything you would like to discuss

Best Wishes

Ms Evans and the Year One Team
