Learning for week commencing 13/6/11

Literacy
Following on from the very enjoyable visit to Lorton Meadows, the children will be producing their own information leaflet. To be successful in this, they need to make the leaflet as attractive and informative as possible. Quite a challenge!! The chidren will be using photos, drawings, Purple Mash ICT progamme and handwriting. We will make a display of their work in the classroom and also send some leaflets to LOrton Meadows as a thank you.
Maths
This week we are tackling 'time'. It would be great if you could practise the concept at home with your children. Refer to clocks in the house and ask them the time. Also, do they have a concept of when they get up, for example? What about when they go to bed/school/have their tea etc? Some childen find telling the time hard and some find it easy, it depends on the child and is quite a tricky subject to teach, but by the end of the week, the children will have a better understanding!
PE
This is dependent on the weather this week, but we will be continuing our athletic development. The children were fantastic last week and the trophy for attitude and progress will be passed around the class until the end of term - evrybody deserves it.
Also, we are acting out the Ugly Bug Ball in preparation for the class assembly on 24/6. Listen to the song with your child and practise the lyrics.
