Literacy
This week, we are going to start writing imaginative stories. We will be looking at some examples, such as The Very Hungry Caterpillar and various others looking at the main feaures of a story and thinking up our own, which we will be relating to our Minibeast topic. We will be acting them out in the hall, using the ICT suite and Purple Mash to support our writing and then writing the stories out in our Literacy books...should be exciting and I'm really looking forward to readng the stories. Year 1 have great imaginations!
Maths
We are revisiting the unit on measures, looking at weight, capacity and length. Have a go at home with your child and see if thy can estimate how heavy an object is, how much liquid something contains and how long something is. Then measure it accurately using scales, measuring jugs and rulers. There are plenty of opportunities to try this out. We will be using g/kg, cl/l & cm/m.
PE
We are building up to Sports Day next week with the emphasis being on athletics and some ball skills.
Don't forget Friday's assembly.
