Building Learning Powers- Are you a resilient tortoise?

Today the children have learnt about Building Learning Powers. As a school this half term we are all focussing on the learning power of Resilience. Today we looked at the story of 'The tortoise and the hare' and explored how we can be resilient. We spoke about the 4 main strands of; absorption, managing distractions, noticing and perseverance.

After play the children worked on two activities. One was based around the story 'Only one you'. The children were read the story about how it is ok to be unique and how if they come across difficulties in life they can overcome them by trying something new. The other activity was to complete an obstacle course, blindfolded! This took the skills of managing distractions and absorption to enable them to complete it.

At the end of the morning we discussed how the children will try to be resilient in class and using the 4 B's will overcome obstacles in their learning.
