Today in Year 1 we introduced the story 'Owl Babies'. Throughout the week the children will sequence the story and make their own owls which they will then use adjectives to describe.
In Maths we will still be focusing on number formation, sequence and also thinking about more, less and equal. Noticing numbers in the environment is a fantastic way to remember the numbers but also to see how they should be formed. Why not take some pictures of numbers in your house? Or on a walk around a supermarket?
This afternoon the children watched the men from Dorset Music Service perform to instruments. I wonder if your child could tell you something that they played? Or some facts that they were taught? There will be a letter coming home soon about how to book music lessons.
Just a few other notices. Tuesday (19th) is the Y1 parent information session in the hall. If you are unable to make this meeting then do not worry as everything will be covered in the newsletter.
Harvest assembly- 29th September in the hall. You will have a chance to watch your child perform a song/poem as part of our harvest celebrations. They will also be invited to a Harvest cafe in the afternoon. More information about this to follow.
Lastly, I just wanted to inform you all that we will be starting Forest School later than usual as the Forest School area is not ready to be used at the moment. I will put a notice out when this will be.
Many thanks
The Year 1 team
