Hi Year One Families,
We have had a lovely week, we have been busy learning how to subtract within 10 and focusing on writing using a contraction to create words such as I'm, It's and can't. This is part of our work focussing on the story I Want My Hat Back. I am really impressed with the children's growing independence in their writing.
In Science we remembered the different categories of diets/ feeding -Carnivores, Herbivores and Omnivores and we explored how animals teeth differ depending on their diets. We continued our focus of The Victorians in History, this week we focussed on the jobs children had, the class were collectively shocked at the jobs children had to do! In Art we have almost finished our Sculptures we can't wait to show them to you on the 1st December at school drop off.
This week please can children bring a stick to school with them, (best home learning ever!) if it could have branches on that would be brilliant. Please can we have all sticks by Thursday at the latest.
On Friday we have our Exhibition Installation day, which is very exciting children will actively be involved in designing and creating our exhibition. To support with this, please could you donate any clean recycling for junk modelling. We are also after some foliage such as conifers and prickly free holly as we are making some wreaths on Friday.
As we move towards the end of term our school production rehearsals will start next week- further details on roles and costumes will follow.
As a reminder children have PE on Mondays and children must have a coat in the school, please label all hats, scarfs, gloves etc.
Please do get in touch if you need anything.
Ms Evans
