A busy start to a busy term!

 Hi Year One Families,

I am delighted to share with you what a wonderful first week back we have had.

We've started so many new areas of learning, it's going to be a lovely half term!

In English we have started a new story telling focus based on the book I Want my Hat Back. We will be exploring dialogue, question marks, and contractions (I am I'm) throughout this three week focus.

In Maths we have started a new unit on Part Whole Models within 10. This is a shorter unit than our first and we should move onto Unit 3 Addition within 10 shortly.

Our Humanities focus this half term is History- We are learning all about The Victorians- this week we started our learning focusing on the life of Queen Victoria. I wonder if the children can tell you why she wore black?

We also started our Sculpture focus in Art, we will be working on this for a number of weeks and we are looking forward to our exhibition in early December.

On Friday we had the most wonderful Diwali inspired Dance workshop exploring the story of Sita and Rama- the children were incredible!

I am looking forward to the week ahead, where we will explore jobs children had in The Victorian Era, start a new focus in Music with our Cultural Capital exploring the music of John Williams and continuing to make our sculptures.

If you have anything you would like to discuss please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Ms Evans and the Year One Team.
