Thank you to everyone that was able to make the parent information session
on Tuesday morning, I hope that you found this informative. If you weren't able
to make this, do not worry as there will be a newsletter coming out tomorrow
with most of the aspects that I covered. All of the curriculum information that
I gave out such as the topics that we cover in Year 1 will be updated on the
school website very soon in the 'curriculum maps' section. I also mention the
topics throughout my blogs so please do check through these also. I gave a
couple of handouts during the session. I have placed these in folders hanging
on the wall just outside the classroom as you come in.
This week in Year 1 the children have been thinking about where their food comes from. We talked about where and how we can get milk and watched a video on cows being milk. We then talked about what other products we can make with milk. We saw how cheese was made and then tasted a range of different strength and flavour cheeses. I think the trusty old cheddar cheese was the favourite!
In Literacy the children have been writing labels for their own houses and writing who lives in their homes. Thank you for all of the photos that we received!
Yesterday in Maths the children were given their Mathletics log ins. We spent a session learning how to get on to Mathletics through our school website and on pupil links. Their log in cards as well as some information about Mathletics will be sent home with the newsletters tomorrow.

Imogen loved a "red cheese", what was that?
ReplyDeleteThe "red cheese" was red leicester. The children said that it tasted very similar to the cheddar. We also tasted a smoked cheese.
