Hello Year One families
We had a great first week back at school and have been so busy with our learning.
In literacy we are enjoying the story of 'The Man on the Moon.' The children have been extending their vocabulary and writing sentences about the story. The children are getting really good at using their phonic skills as well as remembering capital letters, full stops and finger spaces when writing.
In maths we have begun to learn about teen numbers. The children used lots of different resources to show number 11 -16. They are thinking and talking about the number being made up of tens and ones.
The children are loving gymnastics with Mr Treble and have enjoyed using their bodies in different ways on the mats.
In science we have begun to look at materials. Last week we learnt about different materials such as glass, wood, metal, paper and fabric. They learnt words such as transparent, opaque, waterproof, flexible, hard to describe the materials.
Henry also read us a story as part of our daily story time. We were very impressed and enjoyed it very much. Thank you Henry.
Home learning was sent home on Monday but will be sent home on a Friday from now on. This is optional.
Don't forget the parent information session tomorrow at 9am. I look forward to seeing you there. There will be a recording of it if you can't make the session.
