Drones, sports day and fruit kebabs!

Wow what a fun and healthy start we have had so far! On Monday we found out that we had won the extra 5 minutes play time for our healthy snacks. I must say that it is good to see more fruit and veg compared to the brioche and crisps that we had a lot of!

On Monday afternoon Year 1 and 2 went to The Thomas Hardye School for a action packed Science afternoon. We went on a mission to the moon and did lots of experiments to find out what rocks were from which planet. They especially liked the experiment that Dr Payne carried out that simulated a rocket taking off! After this we went outside and looked at the Drones with Dr Ennion. This was fascinating to watch as they flew so high! After that everyone got to fly a mini drone around the field.

A massive WELL DONE to all of the children for their perseverance and hard work with sports day. They all did brilliantly and everyone received a certificate. Thank you to all of the parents that ran in the race I think we had most of the class!

In class we have been making fruit kebabs. The children have thought about where the fruits come from and how it grows (trees, plants etc). They have chopped up pineapple, strawberries, melon, oranges, grapes and blueberries to make their own kebabs.

As it is our healthy living week we have also been talking about staying safe in the sun, by the road side and around the house.

Tomorrow is bump up afternoon. I will be discussing this with the children in the morning and you will receive a letter tomorrow.

Mrs Thorpe

If anyone is available to come on our trip the Netherbury woods please let me know. Many thanks
