Year 1 - GLADIATORS READY!!

Hi everyone, we hope you have had a super weekend and enjoyed the sunshine! 

Tomorrow marks the start of our inclusive sports fortnight, and what a way to start this by welcome a real life gladiator into school!! Tomorrow we will be welcoming STEEL! If you have purchased a foam finger, please bring these in tomorrow (can these be named, so children don't lose them).

On Tuesday we have our KS1 sports day. This starts at 10:00 and families are welcome to watch. Please can children come into school wearing their PE kits, they can keep these on for the day. We will be finished at 11. Also, it's important children have sun hats, water bottles and sun cream on.

On Thursday we will be taking part in a range of different sporting activities. Please can we have PE kits back in for this.

Bikeathon day and last week in Year 1

 Hi everyone! We hope you have had a super weekend and managed to stay cool in the heat.

We have had another super week inand we can't believe how little time we have left in Year 1.

In Maths we started our topic of time and have been learning o'clock and half past. In English we have been planning a fact file about buildings that will continue next week. In Science we have been continuing to look at plants and have been labelling different leaves. 

We had a super trip to Kingston Lacy on Monday and children are still talking about how much fun they had.

There have been a few questions about the bikeathon. This will be taking place on Friday, so please ensure children have their bike in school on Friday.

On Tuesday we have class photos. Please make sure children are camera ready!

On Friday we are having a non-school uniform day in aid of the POWSA Summer fayre.

Hot day again tomorrow

Hi everyone!

It it going to be a very hot day again tomorrow. We have sent children home with their PE kits today and we encourage them to wear these into school tomorrow. If children are wearing their own clothes please make sure these are lightweight and appropriate for the weather and school day.

Most children had a hat and drink in school today, but please make sure they have these tomorrow. Also, please apply sun cream before school. If this needs to be reapplied please send in suncream that is named. Children will need to apply this themselves, but we will remind them of this throughout the day. 

We will be encouraging lots of drink breaks and will ensure children are in the shade if possible.

One last thing, please can all children come into school with their reading records. We haven't had a week yet where we have had all of them.

An Amazing Day Out – A School Trip to Remember!

 An Amazing Day Out – A School Trip to Remember!

We had an absolutely fantastic time on our school trip! From start to finish, the day was filled with discovery, laughter, and a real sense of adventure.

All children represented the school brilliantly – showing kindness, curiosity, and excellent behaviour throughout the entire day. It was heartening to see them engage so well with everything around them.

One of the highlights was exploring the wide variety of flowers and trees. The children loved spotting different colours, shapes, and textures as we wandered through the beautiful grounds. The Japanese Garden was a particular favourite – its peaceful paths, tranquil water features, and elegant landscaping left everyone in awe.

Despite the warm weather, the children coped wonderfully with the heat, staying cheerful and hydrated all day long.

And of course, no trip would be complete without a little time to play – and the play parks were definitely the best bit! With climbing frames, slides, and space to run freely, the joy on their faces was unforgettable.

All in all, it was a truly memorable day. 

Trip tomorrow - Year 1

Just a quick reminder that our trip is happening tomorrow! We’re all really looking forward to a fun and exciting day out.

Here’s what your child will need to bring:

✅ Packed lunch

✅ Healthy snack

✅ Water bottle

✅ Sun cream (applied before school if possible)

✅ Sun hat

✅ Weather-appropriate clothing 

✅ Comfortable footwear for walking (trainers or similar)

✅ School top – please make sure they’re still wearing a school jumper or T-shirt so we can easily identify everyone.

We’ll be out for most of the day, so please make sure everything is clearly labelled and packed in a small backpack your child can carry themselves.

Home learning - Year 1

 Hi everyone,

As the children have worked so hard this week in biscuit club there will be no home learning. We will still be sending home reading books and RWI books.

BISCUIT CLUB!

Hello everyone, I hope you are well!

Biscuit club aka Phonics Screening Check has started today. Children will be invited to biscuit club with me where they will be reading 40 words - 20 alien words and 20 real words. There will be no pressure put onto your children as calling it biscuit club is exciting and they get a biscuit at the end of it.
