Clothes for dance day tomorrow!

Hi everyone, just a quick blog to ask for all children to be sent into school with some brightly coloured funky clothes to get changed into for dance day tomorrow. If they want to bring in some sunglasses and a funky hat then please send these in too.

If you could share this information on any group chats you may have then please do!

Thank you!

We can't wait for you to see our funky fresh moves tomorrow!

Last week in Year 1!

Hello everyone, hope you have been enjoying the sun this weekend!

Last week in year one has been incredibly busy!!!! I want to say a massive thank you for sending in costumes for Peter Pan and for coming to watch. Each child was amazing and enjoyed it so much.

In Maths we have been continuing to look at numbers to 100 using a number square and looking at the tens of ones of a number. In Literacy we have been writing newspaper reports all about The Great Fire of London. In RE we have continued to look at Judaism and how this creation story is the same as Christianity and why. In PE we have been practising for sports day and taking part in basketball with Coach Luca.

As the weather is getting hotter we are doing a lot more outdoor learning. Please ensure children come into school with sun hats and suncream on.

This week we have lots on! Tomorrow marks the start of our inclusive sports fortnight. It's also our bikeathon tomorrow so we are encouraging children to come on their bikes to school. We also have our class photos in the morning tomorrow. Tuesday we have a taster session for taekwondo which is going to be lots of fun. Thursday it's our sports day at 2:10. Spectators are welcome! Friday is our DANCE DAY at 2:30. Spectators are also welcome to come to this.

We have recently assessed the children in RWI. This week they will start in their new groups. We did not send home any RWI books or spellings because of this.

I have had a few of you ask about the results of the phonics screening. The results for this will be on seperate sheets in their reports.

See you in the morning!

Please don't forget that it's non-school uniform day tomorrow so the children can come into school in their own clothes. We are also asking for donations for the summer fayre!

Peter Pan and week 2 in Year 1

Hello everyone, hope you've all had a good weekend!

Last week we had another majorly busy week in Year 1. Your children have yet again been so amazing and shown great attitudes to their learning.

We have completed our unit of position and direction in Power Maths and this week we will be looking at numbers to 100. Any support with this at home would be amazing!

In Literacy we have been focussing on our senses in relation to The Great Fire of London and I have been blown away by their incredible writing. This week we will be writing newspaper reports about The Great Fire of London.

In Science we have been exploring building materials and their properties. Children worked in groups to create a house to remain standing when put in front of a fan. They all showed great teamwork and communication during this.

This week we will be having our relationship and sex education lesson where we will be learning about the correct names for our private parts.

All children were assessed in RWI this week and there have been some changes in groups. This will be communicated with you soon.

We also had so much fun at the disco on Friday and enjoyed a visit from author Jane Hurdiss.

It's PETER PAN week!! Please can you send in costumes for your children if you haven't already done this. Tuesday we will be doing our dress rehearsal. Wednesday and Thursday will be our performance days.

Any questions, please let me know.

See you tomorrow morning!

First week back!

Hi everyone, I hope you've had a wonderful weekend in the sun!

We have been incredibly busy in Year 1 this week and your children have settled back into school so well.

This week we had our phonics screening check - or as some of you might have heard....BISCUIT CLUB! I am extremely proud of each child in Year 1 and their results will be passed on to you in due course, however, I think most of you will be over the moon like I am!

We have completed our unit about halves and quarters in Maths and we are starting a unit on position and direction this week.

In Science we have started to look at building materials and their properties!

In Literacy we have started to look at our new topic which is The Great Fire of London. Every child has become immersed in this and is finding it incredibly interesting. They have already learnt so much and can tell me lots of facts. This week we will be focussing on our senses.

As it is getting hotter please can you ensure children are coming into school with sun hats and sun cream that lasts all day preferably. If you don't have this please can you send in sun cream with a form filled out.

This week we will be be doing RWI assessments.

If you could send in the children's costumes for Peter Pan this week (named please!) this would be amazing!

Any questions, please let me know!
