The Year 1 team

YR1 Have a good summer

Firstly, I just want to apologise for not being in for the last week of term! Unfortunately I have been unwell, but I am slowly on the mend. If you needed to speak to me this week but didn't get the chance then please do not hesitate to email me on k.kinkead@princeofwales.dorset.sch.uk

It has been a pleasure getting to know your child this year and seeing them progress so much! I am sure they will all thrive in Year 2. I hope your child enjoys their summer!

Thank you for being so supportive this year, especially as it has been my first official teaching post as a newly qualified teacher! I will see you all in September!

Many Thanks

Miss Kinkead

YR 1 Last Week

So next week is the last week of term! What a year it has been!! It has been a pleasure getting to know your child since January and I wish them all the luck for the future!

Next week we will be collecting in ALL Group Reading books and Library books. Please check everywhere you think your child may have put them! Next week your child will then have the chance to pick two new Library books to take home for the summer holidays.

On Friday, the last day of term, we are having a Games Day. We will have a variety of table top games available that focus on improving your child’s problem solving abilities. The more games the better so if your child could also bring in a table top game that would be wonderful! Here are a few examples:

·         Uno
·         Pick up Sticks
·         Card games
·         Snakes and Ladders
·         Connect Four

(Please do not bring messy games or electronic games)

Also on Friday it is Year 4’s Leavers Assembly. The children have been asked to wear an accessory to this assembly along with their uniform. Boys can wear a tie or bow tie and girls can wear a something in their hair. The theme is Oscars. Please don’t wear it to school, but pack it in their bag so they can put it on for the assembly.

I will be doing Jigsaw in smaller groups next week to discuss how your child feels about going into Year 2. This will allow them to discuss in a safe place their worries and hopefully make them feel positive about moving on. If you feel your child may be feeling extra anxious about moving on, please let me know so I can do a 1:1 jigsaw session with them during the last week.

Thank you.
