The week in Year One

 Hello Year One Families

Last week we continued to enjoy our dance lessons with Mr Treble. It was certainly a 'Mission Impossible' but we persevered with rolling, jumping and crawling to the music!

In English we read the book 'The Darkest Dark' by Astronaut Chris Hadfield. The children took it in turns to be 'hot-seated,' taking on the role of Chris and imagining what is was like to witness the moon landing on the TV in 1969 as Chris did.

In Art, we finished our seasons work by creating our own seasonal pictures using the skills and resources we had learnt about over the half term. The children were able to get creative with pencils, paints and charcoal to create some wonderful pictures.

And finally, some children in the class had a cycling lesson. There was lots of great perseverance shown. Well done!

The children have also been working very hard in maths at counting in 2s to 24 and 5s to 50 and practicing number bonds to 10 and 20.

Class Assembly
Don't forget that we are really looking forward to sharing our assembly with you on Friday 31st March at 9.20am.

Fond Farewell to Mrs Elliott
We will also be saying a fond farewell to Mrs Elliott on Wednesday who has been with us since January. She has been an absolute asset to the Year One Team and the children are very lucky to have been taught by her. We are sure that she will be a fantastic class teacher.

The Year One Team
Mrs March, Ms Browne, Mrs Elliott, Mrs Rogers, Miss McCourt and Ms Dainton.
