Year 1 - Jolly Postman homelearning

Home learning
On Thursday I gave the children hard copies of this week's home learning which links to our topic of the Jolly Postman. Over the next few days I would like them record the different types of post that are delivered to the household each day. The children have a table to complete, although if your child's home learning worksheet didn't make it home please ask a member of the team and we can give you a replacement.
It would also be very useful if the children could bring in any junk mail and used envelopes that you no longer need plus any named postcards that they would like to share with the class which we will return to you.

Spellings
Spellings for children to learn over the week will continue to be sent home on a Friday with a spelling test being given on the following Friday. If your child has misplaced their spellings please let us know.

RWI
Most RWI groups also set home learning on a Friday. These activities together with listening to your child read to you on a regular basis are designed to help your child practice their reading and develop greater fluency.

World Book day - Thursday 5th March
It will be World Book day on Thursday. On this day the children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite story book character to celebrate a love of reading and literacy. Please don't feel that you need to spend lots of money buying a costume. Home made outfits are always fantastic.

Passports
Mr Spracklen will be having a look at Year 1's passports next week so please feel free to come in and use the passport stamp before or after school.

Other notices

  • Please could all children bring in a named drink bottle for water so that they can independently have a drink throughout the day as they need one.
  • We also encourage children to bring in a healthy snack that they can eat at break time to get them through to lunchtime. We do provide fruit and vegetables at snack time although for some children this may not be sufficient for them as they may not like the fruit available.
  • PE will continue to be on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please could you ensure that your child has a full labelled PE kit including plimsolls.

Have a lovely weekend,

Kind regards,
Ms Browne & the Year 1 team
