Last week in the Year One classroom!

Hi everyone, I hope you've had a great weekend and have been enjoying the sunshine!

I just want to start this blog by apologising for having to reschedule our class assembly and I hope you all understand the reason why we had to. We have now rescheduled this for the 1st April.

This week we have had a busy week yet again! In Literacy we have been writing letters to the POW space station about why we would be good recruits. Apparently the adults who are at the space station are a bit silly....especially me! (Miss White). I was so impressed with their writing during these lessons. In Maths we have been continuing with our numbers to 50 and we have started to learn how to count in 2's. In Art we have been using water colours to paint the planets in the solar system. In Science we have been looking at seasonal changes.

On Tuesday we were lucky enough to visit the Corn Exchange and see a giant Mars. The children took their sketchbooks and sketched Mars and we also have a story sat underneath it. It was such an amazing experience had by all.

Thank you so much for the home learning this week (mobile solar systems). They blew me away!!!

Coming up this week we have Jade Hurdiss who is an author coming in on Wednesday to talk to us, which will be such an exciting opportunity. Friday is also comic relief!! We have some fun activities happening throughout the day. We are asking for children to dress up as their favourite superhero or in red. Red noses will be on sale from the office this week if you would like to purchase one. There is also a cake sale if you would like to bake a cake for this.

An email was sent around about a Maths questionnaire for a leadership course I am on. I would really appreciate it if you could take the time to fill this out. I've only had one response so far. Here is the link again if you could please fill it out - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1_j5xa38eixTr-VdOdJmysFFQZH5W9-cRAHZ_Wg_H5F0/edit

Please can you continue to read with your children at home and practice their spellings with them. Also, can you look to see if you have any RWI books at home. We have many children not bringing these back in!

See you all tomorrow!

Miss White and the Year 1 team x
